I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with JC's British 4x4 was disappointing enough that I feel obligated to share it. I spent a significant amount of money with this shop over multiple repairs on my Land Rover. Unfortunately, after their work was completed, I experienced a number of issues, including a leaking transmission that they had replaced, a leaking gearbox, an overheating cooling system that they had worked on, and a coolant temperature sensor that was not functioning properly. Also, they told me a can of bears pray exploded in the truck, without proper documentation. Because of this, the insurance company failed to cover any costs associated with the bear spray which tore up the interior of my car. What was most frustrating was the way these issues were handled. When I raised concerns, I repeatedly felt like the responsibility was being shifted elsewhere rather than acknowledging the possibility that the problems could be related to the work they performed. At one point, I was told to simply "drive it until you can't anymore," which was not the level of service or support I expected after investing so much money in repairs. I also had a major issue with their warranty policy. One warranty-covered component was installed in early 2024, but my truck remained at their shop for more than four additional months while they addressed other issues. When the original repair later failed, I was told it was no longer covered because the warranty period began when the work was completed—not when I actually got the vehicle back and was able to use it. In my opinion, a warranty should begin when the customer takes possession of the vehicle, not while it is still sitting in the shop awaiting other repairs. To make matters worse, when I asked them to diagnose the issue to determine whether it qualified for warranty coverage, I was told I would be charged for the diagnostic work regardless. That left me feeling like the burden was entirely on the customer. Since then, I have taken the truck to other shops and had a completely different experience. The level of communication, transparency, customer service, and pricing has been noticeably better. Personally, I've had much better experiences with Roadside Werx. Based on my experience, I would recommend that Land Rover owners carefully consider their options before trusting JC's British 4x4 with major repairs. I felt like I was constantly having to fight for fair treatment rather than being supported as a long-term customer.

These are the folks you turn to, they just are. You own a LR, which means you get gremlins, issues, rattles, and other randomness. Some you fix yourself, or at least try -- and for the rest, you talk to JCs. They'll chat with you, they'll explain, they'll diagnose and they'll help you out. What else are you looking for? They happen to also just be some really nice people, who share your passion for Rovers and being outdoors with them. Have not used them for any major upgrades, but it sure looks like that is an area of expertise for them as well. So yeah, you own a Rover - you go to JCs. I'm happy I did.

Evan, thank you for the incredible review! We couldn't have said it much better ourselves — owning a Rover definitely comes with the occasional gremlin, rattle, and mystery, and we're glad you've found a home with us when those moments arise. One of the things we enjoy most at the Heritage shop is getting to share knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow Rover owners. Whether it's diagnosing an odd issue, talking through repair options, or just swapping stories about adventures and the outdoors, that's what this community has always been about. We truly appreciate your trust and are honored to be part of your Rover journey. Thanks for being part of the JC's family, and we look forward to helping keep those gremlins at bay for many years to come! — Jeff & the JC's British & 4x4 Heritage Center team

Went to JC's after rear ended at low speed. Asked to ensure bumper still appropriately attached. Rebalancing needed and done for insurance. Also asked to review seat belts, which needed replacing with vehicle at 296149 miles (not a mistype...)

Patrick, thank you for the great review! We’re glad we could help inspect everything after the accident and make sure the vehicle was safe and properly repaired. And with nearly 300k miles on the odometer, it’s clear that Rover has lived a full life already — always impressive to see one still going strong at that mileage. We appreciate the trust and the opportunity to help keep it safely on the road. — Jeff & the JC’s British & 4x4 team

Tremendous attention to detail, transparent, fair pricing. Highly recommended.

Dave, thank you for the great review — we really appreciate it. Your Series III was a great example of the kind of detail-oriented work we enjoy. From the initial inspection through the repairs, our goal was to be thorough and transparent — identifying and addressing items like the A/C system leak, swivel seal wear, rear pinion seal leak, and electrical concerns, while also taking the time to properly diagnose fluid leaks and driveline components. We also made sure to document everything along the way with a full digital inspection, so you could clearly see what we were seeing and make informed decisions on what to address now versus monitor over time. That combination of attention to detail, clear communication, and fair approach to repairs is exactly what we strive for, so it’s great to hear that came through in your experience. Thanks again for trusting us with your Rover — we look forward to helping you keep it in top shape. — Jeff & the JC’s British & 4x4 team

Brought in my vehicle, I was hearing a drive line noise in the rear driver side axle. The technician was not able to diagnose the issue, but he did his best to try and duplicate the noise! I can't say enough good things about the hard work John put into my vehicle. Even if the issue wasn't resolved, I still appreciate the technician's diligence, hard work, and honesty!

Samantha, thank you for the kind and thoughtful review. We really appreciate your understanding, especially with a concern that couldn’t be fully duplicated during testing. Intermittent driveline noises can be some of the most challenging to pinpoint, but we always believe in being honest about what we can and can’t confirm rather than guessing at a repair. John will definitely appreciate the recognition — he put in the effort to thoroughly evaluate it and give you a clear, honest assessment. If the noise becomes more consistent or changes in any way, we’d be glad to take another look and continue working through it with you. Thanks again for your trust and for recognizing the team’s diligence — it means a lot. — Jeff & the JC’s British & 4x4 team

Came in for a simple oil change. Overall great experience: - Wicked fast response to my appt inquiry - Comfortable waiting area - 10% new customer coupon - they were nice enough to take a sample of the old oil in a Blackstone capsule I provided Only feedback: I was charged for oil and fuel additives that I didn’t realize were being added until after the service. Would be great to have clearer communication/consent for optional add-ons, especially because I already use my own fuel treatments and the benefit of oil additives (when already using spec-approved oil) is questionable at best.
